America is Overweight! Are You One of These?

Millions of people diet day after day. Some people choose to eat healthy foods, avoiding fat and carbohydrate dense foods. They focus on losing weight by eating foods that will trigger Fat loss as well as weight loss.

Lots of others choose a low calorie diet plan to lose weight. So have I. If you look around there are millions of people following low calorie diet plans, buying low calorie foods and they are still fat? I think it is time to face the fact. Low calorie diet plans do not work!

I see people at restaurants. They are eating low calorie dinners thinking, like I did, that this is the answer to losing weight. I have talked to many dieters who have followed low calorie diets for weeks and they have lost very little weight. They get discouraged to realize they have dieted for weeks and lost only a few pounds.

It is more than discouraging to realize you have dieted day after day, for weeks, and you have lost seven (7) pounds! Why diet? Thus I began eating right then and there. In the end I gained weight and ended up fatter than ever!

The number one reason why low calorie diets do not work is eating low calorie foods starves your body. You become malnourished. You feel tired all the time. You do not have the energy to do your regular chores, let alone exercise!

The answer to this vicious cycle is a healthy diet plan focusing on Fat loss! If you want to lose weight successfully, you need to keep these two things in mind:

1. Calories are not your enemy.

Calories are not what you should avoid. They are required to supply your body with the necessary nutrition and energy. When your body gets enough food, it will increase your metabolic rate, which will automatically result in weight loss!

The bad calories are those that are available in junk foods. They are foods high in fat or carbohydrates or both. Avoid fried foods high in fat and calories.

Avoid white foods such as potatoes, rice, bread, etc. Avoid sugar and sugary foods. These calories are high in carbohydrates and fats.

Eat fruits and vegetables. The calories in fruits and vegetables are negative calories. Negative calories means it takes more calories to digest these foods than the foods provide! This results in calorie deficit which will ultimately result in weight loss!

Fat loss and weight loss are tied together. You have to focus on foods low in fat, if weight loss is your goal!

2. Muscle building is a must!

Do you know that muscles burn a lot of your calories? This means that the more lean muscles you have, the faster you will be able to lose weight!

Eat protein-rich foods and build lean muscles. Protein-rich foods keep you feeling full longer. This helps keep you from over-eating and will help you lose weight faster!

Working out regularly in a gym will build lean muscles as well.

Remember these two (2) steps to help you lose weight.

(1) Avoid bad calories. Eat more protein/ and (2) Exercise! Focus on muscle building. Muscles burn calories.

Do not count on low calorie diets to help you lose weight. All they do is help you lose water and muscle. You might be misled into thinking you have lost several pounds, and all you lost was water and muscle!

Remember this: Unless you have Fat loss you will not become slim! If you do not lose fat, you can not become Fit!

The truth is "Fit not FAT!"

Until next time, take care!
